Fifteen years ago, 50 Cent dropped off his landmark Get Rich or Die Tryin' album, a debut effort that immediately solidified his status among the rap game's elite. Now, six years into promoting his Street King Immortal album, he plans for his latest project to be as riveting as his first.

Fif says as much in a new interview with The New York Times. Speaking with the newspaper, 50 reveals that he's still working on the project, and he's got some big goals for it. “Right now I’m in the middle of recording my sixth album,” he offers. “But it’s as thrilling as my first.”

Elsewhere in the story, 50 reveals some of the processes behind recording for Street King Immortal. He usually hits the studio on Sundays, where he pretty much loses himself in the session.

“I go into the studio to record my music and meet my producers there,” 50 says. “There are no windows so it’s very easy to lose track of time. I could be there six hours and not even feel it...the only break we get from recording is when we order in dinner.”

Speaking with Muscle & Fitness last year, 50 actually said he wanted to retire from rap after dropping S.K.I. "I want to finish with that project," he explained at the time. "I don’t want to write another record after that. You know how some artists got to have confirmation that they’re right. I have that confirmation in fucking 35, 40 million [albums] that I already sold."

With that goal in mind, it's no wonder 50 wants to make a record as exciting as his first. Here's to hoping he reaches that goal. His new film, Den of Thieves, is in theaters now.
