Today, June 18, marks the 19th birthday of 2018 XXL Freshman, rapper Trippie Redd!

The teen hip-hop star has come a long way from his Canton, Ohio stomping grounds, to say the very least. Growing up with family members who also rap, Trippie listened to a range of music at a young age, which makes sense given his wide range of genre-bending projects and features.

In 2017, Trippie's career catapulted with the release of A Love Letter to You and its sequel, released a few months apart. This year, the platinum-selling artist has worked with Diplo on "Wish" and trekked across the U.S. with G-Eazy and Phora for The Beautiful & Damned Tour. In celebration of his accomplishments, the 1400 rep has gotten new face tattoos and diamond-studded chains totaling nearly $500,000.

XXL spoke to Trippie Redd for the Spring 2018 issue, where he expressed his genuine love for making music.  “I want Grammys. I wanna be better than these people who are just here because they figured out they can make money from music," he explains. "I’m really an artist. I really do this. I don’t need the money. It doesn’t matter to me.” The "Deadman's Wonderland" rhymer also got personal with the team during the video segment "Who Am I?" last November.

The midwestern native is now prepping his debut studio album, due out in July. During his set at Rolling Loud Miami in May, Trippie performed an unreleased track and told fans "My album is really just like, it's lyrical rap, it's rock music, it's all the shit I do now and it's R&B."

Catch Trippie and the rest of the "We Got Clout" class—which includes Ski Mask The Slump God, Wifisfuneral, J.I.D, Stefflon Don, Lil Pump, Smokepurpp, BlocBoy JB and YBN Nahmir—performing this summer at XXL's 2018 Freshman shows in New York on July 11 and Los Angeles the following week on July 19.

Happy Birthday, Trippie!
