Virgil Abloh's highly-anticipated debut as the Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton's menswear at 2018 Paris Fashion Week kicked off on Wednesday (June 20)—but not without a tear or two being shed when he reunited with his former collaborator Kanye West.

The star-studded affair, which featured the likes of Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner in the front row, in addition to A$AP Rocky and Swae Lee, among others, concluded on an emotional note as Ye and Virgil embraced one another.

In footage captured by TMZ, the Off-White pioneer is seen making the customary post-show walk down the vibrant colored runway at the Jardin du Palais Royal. As Virgil makes his way to the end of the runway, he excitedly spots Ye, who extends his arms for a hug. The two Chicago natives then can be heard sobbing, making for an image that could possibly only be summed up in Ye's own words: "real friends."

Prior to skyrocketing to fame as a fashion extraordinaire, Virgil was largely known for his professional relationship with Yeezy. Back in 2002, the pair interned together at Fendi at which point Virgil then took on the role of artistic director for Ye's creative agency Donda. In 2012, Virgil was nominated for a Grammy for his design work on Kanye and Jay-Z's collaborative album Watch the Throne.

During a recent sit-down with Charlamange Tha God, Ye shared his thoughts on Virgil becoming the first Black creative director for Louis Vuitton. “There is some validation in the fact that someone that I came up with is now the head at Louis Vuitton.”

The "Violent Crimes" rapper also revealed that Virgil shared the historic news with him prior to the world finding out. “He made the call about two minutes before it hit the internet,” he said.
