There's not much that can be said about Queen Key that she isn't willing to share in her music. Her studio debut album Eat My Pussy—contender for 2018's most brazen album title—is packed with catchy and authentically ribald bars alongside the likes of Dreezy, Tink and Cuban Doll. The effort earned her major props in hip-hop circles and help her land a spot on G Herbo's Swervo Tour with Southside.

"I'm so unapologetic ’cause I'm not necessarily tryna make somebody feel however, I'm just literally tellin' the muthafucka how I feel," the Chicago native tells XXL. She began taking rap serious after repeatedly hitting a wall in retail and service jobs. "Anything I was tryna do besides rap wasn’t working out, so I was like, okay, let me just focus on what I know how to do naturally."

She's come a long way from recording herself with a keyboard under the moniker Baby Niko. Now with four projects under her belt—including Beauty in a Beast and Your Highness and Your Highness 2—the "My Way" rapper is ready to supply her fans with more quotes for their social media posts.

"My favorite project is the one that I’m about to drop, which is Eat My Pussy Again," Queen Key says. "I'm not doin' no features this time around. I want it to be all me."

I grew up listening to: "Anybody and everybody that got a hit song and a name in hip-hop and rap, period. Lil Wayne, Gucci [Mane], Nicki [Minaj], Trina, Lil Kim, Lauryn Hill. They all pretty much neck-and-neck."

My style's been compared to: "I’ve been gettin’ a lot of Lil Kim and Trina."

My standout moments to date: "The tour I’m on now. [And] Summer Jam, when I opened up for Young M.A. in Chicago."

My most slept-on song: "Shit, all my music. My first project slept on, Bless Your Highness. I feel like just me as a whole [too], you know?"

Most people don't know: "Most people probably don’t know how calm I am. Sometimes people expect me to be loud but really I just be coolin’."

I'm going to blow up because: "I study music and I know music. I ain’t tryna be cocky or nothin’, but my music is better than a lot of other music that I be hearin’ on a mainstream level."

I'm going to be the next: "I'm going to be the next best."
